What is Power Supply Burn-in Test

Burn-in test refers to the process of simulating various factors involved in the actual service conditions of products and accelerating product aging under corresponding conditions. Burn-in testing plays a vital role in product performance, user experience and service life. Below we introduce the application of DC power supplies in various burn-in test scenarios.

Burn-in Test for LED Light Strips

To avoid quality defects of LEDs, it is necessary to control the quality of soldered and packaged components and conduct burn-in tests on LED products to ensure the reliability of electronic products, which is an essential step in product production.

This burn-in process includes temperature adaptability test, simulated voltage range test (high, medium and low voltage), impact damage test, as well as real-time monitoring of drive power supply, product current and voltage fluctuations.

Two mainstream test methods are widely adopted: constant current & constant voltage burn-in and overcurrent shock burn-in.

Wire Harness Burn-in Test

1. Hang the middle part of the test sample on a fixture, and attach weights to both ends. The outer diameter and weight of the sample shall comply with product standards.

2. Place the prepared samples into an oven preheated to the specified temperature. The oven temperature and heating duration for the samples shall meet the product standard requirements.

3 .Take the aged samples out of the oven and remove them from the test rod, then cool them down to room temperature without tension within 1 hour.

4. At room temperature, fix one end of the sample on the test rod and hang a weight on the other end. Rotate the test rod to fully wind the sample around the rod, then wind it in the reverse direction, which counts as one winding cycle. Complete two winding cycles in total. The winding turns shall be tightly attached to each other during operation. Take out the sample and visually inspect the insulation surface for cracks with naked eyes.

5. After winding the sample as described in Step 4, conduct voltage withstand test in accordance with relevant standards. The test voltage value and voltage application duration shall follow product standards.

Charge-Discharge Burn-in Test for Storage Batteries

Battery charge-discharge test is the most intuitive way to evaluate battery performance. The test results determine whether the battery is qualified for use, whether performance optimization is required, and its applicable application fields.

Main test methods include cycle life test, rate performance test and pulse charging test.
